Walter "Sonny" Sprehe

Walter “Sonny” Sprehe of Carlyle of Carlyle, IL died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese, IL at the age of 85 years. Sonny was born in Hoffman, Il on October 15, 1929, the son of Walter “Curly” and Elsie (Owens) Sprehe.
Sonny is survived by a sister: Lois Sprehe of Carlyle; two brothers: Dean Sprehe and wife Ann of Charlotte, N.C. and Stanley Sprehe and wife Linda of Carlyle; many nephews; and special “family”: Larry and Barb Schmitz of Carlyle, Suzanne Schmitz of Carbondale, and Jean Totten of Trenton.
Sonny was preceded in death by: his parents; and sister and brother-in-law: June and Clarence “Buck” Hammel.
Sonny was formerly the co-owner of the Will-Mary Shoppe in Carlyle.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Frerker Funeral Home with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Carlyle.
Friends may visit with the Sprehe family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday from 5 to 8:00 PM or on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
For those wishing to honor Sonny with a memorial, the family suggests either St. Mary Church or Messiah Lutheran Church and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
