Stella Gordon

Stella Gordon of Beckemeyer died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Aviston Countryside Manor at the age of 97 years. She was born in Tidioute, Pennsylvania on June 19, 1915 the daughter of Frank and Laura (Southwick) Koch. She married George Gordon on January 25, 1947 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1994.

Stella is survived by a daughter: Rosemary Halterman of Hoffman; a son: Bill Gordon and wife Diane of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a sister: Gertrude Voss of Breese; a brother: Donald Koch and wife Esther of Breese; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Barb Gordon; sisters: Juliana Koch, Mormalene Koch, Mary Kuczka, Helen Jarvis, Josephine Hawkins and Patricia Koch; and brothers: Francis Koch, Joseph Koch and Henry Koch.

Stella was a member of St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer and Royal Neighbors. She was a cook at the Carlyle Healthcare Center for many years. She enjoyed playing bunko, quilting, sewing and cooking.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. The interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8:00 P.M. or on Saturday from 8:00 until the time of services.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Anthony Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
