Roy William Pulver

Roy W. Pulver of Beckemeyer died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the age of 85. He was born in Sandoval on October 8, 1927, the son of Hanner and Mary (Deadmond) Pulver. On May 9, 1951, Roy married Rose Merscher at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso.
Roy is survived by his wife of 61 years: Rose; his children: Janice Pulver- Lewis and husband, Scottey, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Kenan Pulver and wife, Beth, of Menominee, Michigan; Rhonda Pulver of Beckemeyer; and a sister: Lucille Reynolds of Martinsville, Illinois; a brother: Lloyd Pulver and wife, Vera, of Beckemeyer; grandchildren: Amanda Pulver, Kenan Pulver Jr., Mark Pulver, and Andrew Lewis; and his best buddy Rascal.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Vivian Bright; and brothers-in-law: Bill Reynolds and Duane Bright.
Roy served as the Supervisor of Assessments of Clinton County from 1967 until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement, he served as interim Supervisor of Assessments in Fayette County and then Marion County. Roy was currently serving as the Trustee of Wade Township. He served two terms in the U.S. Army, an 11-month term beginning in 1946 and a two year term beginning in 1951 when the Korean War started. Between his army stints he worked at Caterpillar Company in Peoria. Roy also owned and operated the barbershop in Beckemeyer from 1956 to 1967. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 where he had served as treasurer for many years and was on the Drill Team, the Illinois Association of County Officials, the Township Officials of Illinois, the Clinton County Democrats, the Moose Lodge, and Goldsmith-Terry V.F.W. Post 3523. He had also served on the Mater Dei Catholic High School Board and was a member of the Mater Dei Fathers and Friends Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Anthony Churchwith Fr. George Mauck and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. The interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227.
Friends may visit with the Pulver family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday from 2 to 6:00 P.M. or on Monday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.
