Ellen Newkirk Robert of Carlyle peacefully passed away surrounded by her family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese on Wendesday, June 17, 2015 at the age of 83 years. Ellen was born in Carlyle on April 26, 1932, the daughter of Frazier and Mary Ann (Gehrs) Newkirk. She married Phillip Robert on January 10, 1951 in Carlyle and he survives.
Ellen is survived by her: husband; children: Jean Parson and husband Rick and Gary Robert and wife Debbie of Carlyle; grandchildren: Shawnna Yashar and husband David, Tyler Robert and wife Erin, Stacy Pepper and husband Thomas and Shannon Petrea and husband Tony; great grandchildren: Zachary Yashar, Elise Yashar, Grant Yashar, Ben Robert, Nick Robert, Drew Robert, Audrey Pepper, Carson Petrea; and step great grandchildren: Thomas Pepper and Mason Pepper.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents: Frazier and Mary Ann (Gehrs) Newkirk; stepmother: Florence (Wuebbles) Newkirk; and sibling: Frazier B. Newkirk, Mary Ann “Sally” Lane, Lenore “Norie” Means, William “Bill” Newkirk, Elmer “Corky” Newkirk, Ruth Kuhn, Mabel Jean Montacue and Franklin Dean Newkirk.
Ellen worked in the Clinton County Clerk’s office for many years. She had many hobbies, but was most happy when she was with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church with Fr. George Mauck offciating. The interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Robert family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Friday from 5 to 8:00 P.M. or on Saturday from 8 until 9:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Ellen’s honor to St. Mary Church and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home.
