Edward J. Mueller

Edward J. Mueller of Carlyle died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at his home at the age of 98 years. He was born in Carlyle on March 28, 1910, the son of Ben and Mary (Peppenhorst) Mueller. He married Marie Keller on September 7, 1937 at St. Mary Church in Carlyle and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2006.Ed is survived by two daughters: Judy (Wilson) King and Linda Thoms, both of Smithboro, IL; a son: Don Mueller of New Baden, IL; a brother: Gene (Emily) Mueller of Carlyle; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters: Marcella Kellermann, Dorothy Bruggemann, Olive Hawley and Alice Jones; a brother: Cletus “Clete” Mueller; and a great grandchild: Ariel Mueller.Ed was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed gardening and being with his family.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church with Fr. George Mauck and Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.Expressions of sympathy may be made in Ed’s memory to St. Mary Cemetery or to Hospice of Southern Illinois, and those will be accepted at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
