Anna L. Nehrt

October 19, 1920 — January 17, 2015

Anna L. Nehrt of Carlyle died Saturday, January 17, 2015 surrounded by her family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 94 years. Anna was born in Clement Township/Clinton County, Illinois on October 19, 1920, the daughter of William and Bertha (Reinkensmeyer) Hermsmeyer. She married Elmer Nehrt on October 26, 1941 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1968.
Anna is survived by her children: James Nehrt and wife Rosie of Carlyle, Illinois, Jeanette Carter and husband Wayne of Parker, Arizona, Judy Johnson and husband Kenneth of Belleville, Illinois, Jo Ann Gross and husband Dan of Bartelso, Illinois and John Nehrt and wife Kathy of Troy, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; brother: Edwin Hermsmeyer and wife Verdell of Ferrin; and inlaws: Shirley Hermsmeyer of Ferrin, Georgia Evans of Fayetteville, Georgia and Menard Nehrt and wife JoAnn of Galena, Missouri.
Mrs. Nehrt was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Leona Nehrt and Ellen Kraus; and a brother: Wilbert “Wib” Hermsmeyer.
Anna was retired from DeMoulin Brothers in Greenville before becoming a full-time housewife. She was a very active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle and the Ladies Aid at the church. She enjoyed quilting and being involved with the fall apple butter project at the church. She especially enjoyed being with her family.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle with Pastor Steven Sommerer officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Messiah Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 4 to 8:00 PM or on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
