Welcome to Frerker Funeral Home

The Frerker Funeral Home is owned and operated by Tom Frerker, the 4th generation of the Frerker family.  Tom's great grandfather, Theodore Volmer, founded the funeral home in 1867.  Theodore and wife Mary's second daughter, Christine, married John Frerker who subsequently purchased the funeral and furniture business.  John and Christine raised 4 children in the funeral and furniture store, Helen (Sister M Johanella), who joined the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Paul, Leo (Pete), and John (Bill).  The 3 boys joined their father in the funeral business.

Pete married Helena Westermann, and Tom is the youngest of their 6 children.  Tom purchased the business in 1973 and remodeled and enlarged the building in 1977.  The funeral home was designed to meet the comfort and privacy needs of the families they have the opportunity to serve.  The chapel is the largest in Clinton County; the separate family lounge with restroom for the comfort of the families, and the large 2-car wide carport protects the families from inclement weather.  Even the attached two car garage allows the privacy and guarantees the dignity of deceased.

Besides operating the business, Tom has been active within the community serving on boards for the local Jaycee chapter, Carlyle Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus Council and Lions Club.  Tom is an active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlyle.

Professionally, Mr. Frerker is a member of the Illinois Funeral Director's Association and Egyptian Funeral Director Association.
